The Village

The Old Boulangerie and Ti Forn Art Centre are situated in
the centre of the village of 'Le Quiou' ( pronounced 'Le Q' ).
The 305 inhabitants are served well with two local
cafe/bars, both selling fresh bread and a popular
Creperie Restaurant.

The 19th century church with its unique bell tower ( no clock ) and
stained glass windows can be viewed from the Old Boulangerie
bedrooms. The bells ring out a 7 o'clock call to mass each
Saturday evening.

The Gallo-Roman Archaeological site on the edge of the village opens from May to September to visitors, although the site is accessible all year round. 'Pierres Vives', the volunteer-organised association to support the site, provides guided tours with an explanation of recent finds which are displayed in the Old Station House of Le Quiou, just alongside the dig.

The Old Railway line itself is now a maintained walking and cycle route (Voie Verte Route 2 and 3) linking Le Quiou to St Malo (Dinard) in the north and Plouasne and beyond towards the south. A short walk along the line, in the direction of Plouasne, leads you to the privately-owned 15th century Chateau de Hac with its medieval gardens and beautifully restored towers.

A short cycle in the opposite direction brings you to the old Station House of the next village, St Andre des Eaux, and just beyond you will find the Betineuc leisure lakes. Surrounded by forest, this collection of lakes has abundant birdlife, ancient church ruins, fishing, boating and a man-made beach with swimming as well as many areas for picnicking and relaxing.
